Detritus

‘Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?"—who watches the watchmen? Detritus documents communal spaces where function yields to neglect. Drawing upon Newman’s Defensible Space Theory (1972), this series adopts forensic photography’s dispassionate gaze. Each frame records material entropy: rubbish receptacles, signage, scattered papers and abandoned tools in studied isolation.

As the series examines architectural margins—service entries, dead corners, overflow zones—patterns of maintenance and deterioration emerge. Warning signs guard empty chambers, temporary solutions calcify into permanence, and beneath fluorescent clarity, order frays. Detritus exposes raw nerves of municipal upkeep, where each forgotten periphery bears witness to collective memory—and its spaces left unvigilant.

Love Death Peace

Memory serves as the Peace Centre's gradual decay and eventual demolition. Through photography, the images immortalise the monument, freezing it in time. The series juxtaposes the abandoned space with the inevitability of its fate. Ultimately, it acknowledges the transience of existence, portraying decay not as an enemy, but as a companion.

In homage to the legendary ziggurat of ancient Babylon, this photo series celebrates the symbiotic relationship between the natural environment and humanity's sacred architecture. It features several images of indigenous flora intertwined with man-made structures. This union signifies the emergence of a landscape that is destined to transform the very locales from which its materials originated—an ironic twist of fate as humanity strives to build its modern ziggurat.

However, unlike its ancient counterpart, which aimed to transcend language and connect with the divine, this contemporary effort is motivated by self-serving ambitions, seeking not spiritual elevation but the fulfilment of individual desires. As a result of humanity's transgressions, the loss of habitat, rather than the loss of language, will soon serve as the punishment for its actions, highlighting the fragile balance between progress and preservation.

Shadow & Sin

PortraitConceptual

Shadow & Sin is a stark photographic exploration of human duality. At its core is a man clad in a pink polo shirt—an emblem of societal conformity—set against shadowy, austere backdrops. This visual juxtaposition lays bare the conflict between our curated public personas and the tumultuous inner selves we often neglect.

Through calculated light and shadow, the series challenges viewers to scrutinise their self-perception. Scattered objects—a lighter here, sunglasses there—serve as tangible metaphors for the complexities we harbour, inviting us to embrace rather than eschew these multifaceted aspects of our nature.
